TWO SERVICES

MORE ROOM FOR MORE PEOPLE

As God builds up and expands Anchor Church at Portland, we want to create more space to welcome more people into our community.

What will the new service times be starting on Easter?

9:30 a.m.

11:00 a.m.

What does this mean for me?

With 2 services, you have an opportunity to attend one and serve one. You can make a difference in the life of others and contribute to the growth of the church by serving in one of the services. Whether you serve in the kids’ ministry during the 9:30 service or on the Connect Team in the 11:00 service, you can help others feel the love of Christ.

How else does this help me?

Not only do you have the opportunity to serve others like Jesus served you, two services gives you an opportunity to invite more friends, neighbors, coworkers, and family members. We’re doing this to have more room for more people– more room for the people you want to hear the Gospel and experience the grace of God. This move helps you invite others to church, where they will hear the Gospel of Jesus boldly proclaimed.

Frequently asked questions

1. Why are we moving to two worship services?
We want to make more room for more people. By God’s grace, our church is growing, and we want to ensure that everyone has a comfortable space to worship and connect. By adding a second service, we’re creating more room for more people to attend a worship service, serve in a ministry, invite friends who don’t know Jesus, connect to other people, and be transformed by the Gospel.
2. What are the service times?
Starting March 31 (Easter Sunday), our new service times will be at 9:30 am and 11:00 am.
3. What does this mean for me?

With our transition to two services, we encourage you to embrace the “attend one, serve one” approach. This means you can worship in one service and serve in a ministry during the other. Whether it’s helping in children’s ministry, greeting newcomers, or assisting with setup, your contribution will deepen your walk with Jesus and enhance our church’s welcoming atmosphere. 4. How can I get involved or serve in the new service structure?
This is a great opportunity to jump in to serving in the church! There are many opportunities to serve, especially with the addition of a second service. To sign up, click here or email info@anchorfreeport.com.
5. Will the services be identical?
Yes, both services will be the same.
6. What will children's ministry look like in each service?
During the 9:30 am service, we’ll offer all three children’s classes: 0 to 4-year-olds, pre-K to first grade, and 2nd to 5th grade. In the 11:00 am service, only the 0 to 4-year-old class will be available. We encourage parents with kids 5 years old and up to bring their kids into the later worship service so they can worship God as a family.
7. How can I decide which service to attend?
We encourage you to choose the service that best fits your schedule. We recommend our regular attendees and members consider attending the 11:00 am service, as the 9:30 am service is expected to be more popular and may fill up faster. This helps create a welcoming environment for visitors and ensures there’s more room for everyone.
8. Can I attend both services?

Absolutely! We encourage members to “attend one, serve one” – attend one service and consider serving in some capacity during the other.

9. Will there be fellowship time between services?

Yes, we’ll have a brief fellowship time between services for people to connect with their church family.

10. How will this affect parking?
With two services, parking should be more manageable. We encourage you to arrive a bit earlier to find a spot, especially if you’re attending the second service. We’ll also begin utilizing the grassy areas of the property more for parking.
11. Will there be any changes to the length of the services?
No, each service will continue to be approximately 60-70 minutes long.
12. What’s the long-term plan?

As God continues to bless us with growth, we want our Sunday mornings to be as engaging as possible for all people. We hope to expand our Sunday morning kids’ ministry in the fall to include an older kids class during the 11:00 service.

13. What if I have more questions or concerns?
